"Emiri Salam" (Peace for the Amir) was national anthem of Qatar untill 1996.
This anthem was a typical example of the “Arab fanfare” style of anthem, very short and without lyrics. The music is possibly of an Indian origin.
The new anthem of Qatar was adopted in December 1996, shortly after the accesstion of the Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani.
