Rescuers catch pregnant dog stuck on tiny shelf outside home in southern India

Rescuers saved a pregnant dog on Monday (October 11) that was trapped on a small shelf outside a home in southern India.

Residents of Cuddalore in Tamil Nadu heard the cries of a stricken animal for several days but couldn't work out where it was coming from.

They called in expert wildlife handler, Chella, who located the pooch on a small exterior shelf that provides shade for people on the front doorstep below.

The terrified animal was acting aggressively which made the rescue tricky but Chella and his team used a bedsheet to catch the dog and lower it to safety.
