Qajar Persia, the Qajar Empire, officially the Sublime State of Persia (Persian: دولت علیّه ایران‎ Dowlat-e Âliyye-ye Irân) and also known then as the Guarded Domains of Persia (Persian: ممالک محروسه ایران‎ ), was an Iranian empire ruled by the Qajar dynasty, which was of Turkic origin, from 1789 to 1925.
In 1925, Reza Khan, a former Brigadier-General deposed the Qajar dynasty and declared himself king (shah), adopting the dynastic name of Pahlavi.
The Imperial State of Iran (Persian: کشور شاهنشاهی ایران‎, romanized: Kešvar-e Šâhanšâhi-ye Irân), was known as the Imperial State of Persia from 1925 to 1935.

During the reign of Ahmad Shah Qajar, the last Shah of the Qajar dynasty, who became Shah in 1909, and until 1933, the anthem "Salute of Sublime State of Persia", (“سلامتی دولت علیهٔ ایران”; Salāmati-ye Dowlat-e Elliye-ye Irān) composed by Gholam-Reza Minbashian, was used.
