20211016 Government Account Monitoring - The Daily Summation

Can you imagine a "wealthy" person concerning him or her self over a $600 balance, or even TRANSACTION out of a bank account?

Considering even relatively low-cost housing often commands more than that much in mortgage or rent, I can't.

So when I heard congress wanted to give the IRS (and maybe other governmental entities) the ability to collect information on either accounts with a balance greater that six hundred dollars or with transactions greater than that amount (it mostly doesn't matter which, to be honest). I was even more astounded than usual.

In fact, where it's a much bigger deal for someone who's NOT well off, even THEY likely have multiple such transactions in the course of a year (maybe more than one a MONTH).

As such, you can be ASSURED they regularly have bank balances higher than that amount.

Frankly, the amount SHOULDN'T MATTER.

The IRS and other such agencies should have ZERO right to collect such information without having gone through court proceedings to make it possible.

Having heard any number of people talk about this subject as something in one of the behemoth bills currently wending its way through Congress, I felt the need to hold forth on the idea in this edition of The Daily Summation from Kurt's Religion and Politics
