Deeply in debt, Gi-hun

Deeply in debt, Gi-hun receives a mysterious invitation to gamble for big money. After he accepts, he is picked up, drugged, and taken with 455 other people to a secret location where they are instructed by masked, armed personnel. In the first game, it is revealed that all losers of a game are killed immediately. Although the contest is then cancelled by a majority vote of the surviving players, most of them return to the games as their lives seem to have no prospects and they want the prize money.
