ECONOMICS D4CE SPECIALTY GROUP - PROF. GIGI FOSTER INTERVIEW
ECONOMICS D4CE SPECIALTY GROUP - PROF. GIGI FOSTER INTERVIEW
From the beginnings of the Dr. Stephen Frost initiative to create the Medical Doctors for Covid Ethics Group, with international members ranging from world leading experts to educated and awake concerned citizens, comes this growth initiative to explore the wider issues that have arisen as a result of the policies inflicted on the citizens of the world.
Our first specialty group is ‘Economics D4CE’, and we launch with this brief interview with Prof. Gigi Foster, School of Economics, University of New South Wales, Australia, who is co-author of the brilliant book ‘The Great Covid Panic’ (choice of purchase sources can be found here: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/58911778-the-great-covid-panic), hosted by Paul Buckingham.
I do have to recommend the book, not only because of it’s much needed perspective of ‘What Happened, Why, and What To Do Next’, but because it reminds us of the need to consider economics from a more holistic perspective, inclusive of behavioural and psychological impacts. I also strongly recommend because of the impact calculations presented, which demonstrate the level of impact the lockdown and wider nonsensical policies implemented around the world, and how the cost / benefit analysis evidences the staggering level of actual harm these policies have inflicted that make a total mockery of the ‘if it saves one life’ rhetoric from what is accurately described in book as the ‘Covid Cult’.
This level of critical thinking and competence cannot be stressed enough if our solution outputs are going to reflect the lessons learned from this internationally created disaster.
You will notice at the end mention of a Q&A session, and this is reserved for members, as incentive to join the discussion, so not part of this recording.
The Economics D4CE Specialty Group welcomes new members that will be able to contribute to the intention of disseminating recommendations, information, and developing ideas that can be taken forward into the political alternatives. This will be performed through recognition that we will need a diverse range of opinions (based in reality, so no ‘woke’ nonsense), with the one restriction being that all considerations must be based in first principles and a clear understanding of the economic problem (which by default precludes ideological perspectives).
