Turning the Worst Elevator Pitch into a Victory with Ryan Baylis

Ryan Baylis is the founder of Drift, originally GentScents, and successfully sells fragrances online with what he calls "the world's worst elevator pitch." At just 25 years old, Ryan left his career as a videographer and began soaking wood in fragranced oils in pyrex containers and fishbowls in his garage.

Within a few years, Ryan managed to land double the investment money he needed, build a monthly subscription base of 60,000 customers and a mid-seven-figure business that has doubled every year.

Now 31 years old, Ryan is proud of transforming his company from GentScents to Drift, which he did with the unique goal of "un-gendering" fragrances that are usually categorized as "masculine" or "feminine" while maintaining his sustainability mission.

Drift is based out of Utah and is expanding to the home fragrance industry as well, with its upcoming launch of candles and reed diffusers. www.drift.co
