USS Arlington Fires Volley Missiles In Show Of Strength In The Atlantic Ocean

This is the moment the USS Arlington fires a RIM-116 Rolling Airframe Missile in the Atlantic Ocean.

The San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship USS Arlington (LPD 24) carried out the Live-Fire exercise in an undisclosed part of the Atlantic Ocean on 30th September.

Arlington is conducting surface warfare advanced tactical training (SWATT). SWATT provides the fleet opportunities to complete the tactical reps and sets required for increased lethality and tactical proficiency.

The Arlington is the third ship of the United States Navy to be named after Arlington, Virginia, the location of the Pentagon and the crash site of American Airlines Flight 77 during the 9/11 attacks.

Her sister ship is the USS New York and Somerset which was also named in commemoration of the attacks.

The Arlington is 684 feet (208 metres) long and comes equipped with two 30 mm Mk44 Bushmaster II close-in guns and two RIM-116 Rolling Airframe Missile launchers.
