😄 See A Farm Goose (Toulouse) Who FLIES With Her Family ❤

Hillary is a domesticated Toulouse goose. For several years she lived every day at a pond, at the city park on the river. But, last year she decided to have a family with a wild Canada goose. She was always so sad when the babies, who are half Canada goose, learned to fly at about 4-5 months old, and would fly away with the flock and leave her here. 😢 At first, her mate would stay here with her, but eventually, even he began flying away with the rest of the Canada geese to spend the night elsewhere. When they would take off, Hillary ran along the ground after them, wings outstretched, and she would cry and cry so sadly as they disappeared over the horizon. Sometimes they would be gone for several days at a time. Hillary was so depressed and not interesting in eating or being social with anyone when she was left behind. She would just sit by the shore and wait for them, scanning the sky and calling at any passing geese, hoping they might be her family. Hillary didn't yet know that she could fly. She'd never had to. Her breed of goose is used to living on farms, and have a heavier build, and they usually don't fly at all. But, Hillary got tired of being lonely and missing her babies! So, one day, she decided to try to fly, and she discovered that she could! ❤ Now, Hillary flies all around the river, between the city park, this private park, and other locations with her family, and she is very happy. 🙂

Last Spring (2020), she had a total of 4 babies, but one was just weeks old when it was reported stolen by children at the city park, and is presumed dead. A second one disappeared that Winter, several months after reaching flying age, and has not been seen in almost a year. This year, she hatched a total of 6 babies, and all 6 made it and are flying with her today. Her two surviving 1-year-olds from last year are still with her today too, and they helped to protect their younger siblings this year. In total, they are a family of 10, and Hillary now has her own little flock all to herself. Two years ago, she only had two other goose friends that had lived with her at the park for several years after being dumped there. Now she has a great big family of her own ❤

In the first seconds of the video, after "C'mon Hillary" and before "Come here girl", as they fly over you can hear her call back to me a single time, to let me know she's coming. Her call is different than the familiar honking of the Canada geese in the background.
