Words, information, healthy critical thinking, and ideas have power. When properly communicated, ideas can lead to the hearty exchange of thought when those involved remain humble and teachable, and can lead to incredible solutions for society, even changing the trajectory of nations.

The power of ideas and saying them is precisely one of the reasons why freedom of conscience, thought, belief, opinion, and expression, including freedom of the press and media are protected, fundamental rights in Canada. Those who crafted the Charter knew their importance to us all.

Someone else who knows the importance of speech and ideas is my guest today, Jonathon Van Maren.

Jonathon Van Maren has dedicated his professional life to the healthy exchange of thought in the public square. His writings have been translated into more than 6 languages, and featured not only in a long list of publications including the National Post, the Jewish Independent, and the Hamilton Spectator, but also on television through CTV, Global News, the CBC, and over 20 radio stations nationwide. Jonathon regularly speaks on a variety of social issues at universities, high schools, and churches across Canada and even around the world. Finally, he’s the author of The Culture War, Seeing Is Believing: Why Our Culture Must Face The Victims Of Abortion, and more.
