There are many forms of authority. Some such regular examples; legal, parental, and moral authority - are routinely exercised without ushering in the slippery slope of infringement, with regards to our inalienable American rights (Life, Liberty, Happiness). The use of these previously aforementioned authority realms relies first on the acknowledgement by both parties to the authority and the way in which it will be used. All authority is dynamic, in that the level of power between any two people or entities is constantly changing, depending on the individual circumstances acting upon a given situation. Different types of authority will clash, as there are wide layers of overlap between them…
In the short span of American history, there has rarely come a time in which totalitarian authoritarianism and the clash of tyrannical subjugation were so overwhelmingly stifling to its citizenry, that the consequence resulted with an arising (first in secret, and then with unifying declaration) rebellion; fundamentally purging all relative gears from that conventional system, and forging an entirely new pathway of government, alien in all aspects to its former structure.
The Founding Fathers triggered such an evolution with the establishment of a secret society, known as the “Sons of Liberty;” an organization meant to advance the rights of the colonists to fight taxation by the British government…this inevitably led to an Independence from British rule, and a United States of America.
