SERMON NOTES

You Will Be My Witnesses (Matthew 9:35-38) 'Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”'

I. On A Mission! (Isaiah 61:1-3) • Good Morning!! I’m so glad that you are here with us today!! • As we look at our text today, we are looking at a pivotal moment in the life of Christ. • Jesus is bringing us along for a very important message that he wants for His disciples (then and now) to understand. •

V.35 tells us that Jesus is going out to all the “villages and cities.” (Expound) • It continues and states that He was “preaching in their synagogues of the kingdom,” •

Q. Are we taking opportunities to proclaim the Word of the LORD in people’s synagogues? (Expound) • It continues and states that Jesus was also “healing every sickness and disease among the people.” (Expound) •

Q. Are we taking time to pray for God’s Healing power for not just the physical ailments, but for spiritual and emotional needs as well? (Read Isa. 61:1-3)

II. See The Vision (Through His Eyes) (Rom. 10:14-15) • We continue on to “see” something powerful and precious. Are you ready? •

V.36 states that, “When He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them,” The saw that is being mentioned here is in the same context as “Survey.” (Expound) •

Q. Are we “seeing” the multitudes or are we just walking past them? Are we being moved with compassion, or are we apathetic to them? • Now here is where this gets personal. Here is what is moving Him. • “because they are weary and scattered, like sheep with no shepherd.” (Read John 10:11-16) •

V.37 Jesus is giving us a message, but He is also giving us the opportunity to see things from His perspective! • “The Harvest is Plentiful, but the workers are few,” are you seeing what He is seeing? Are capturing the vision that is being cast? • Church we are being called to see the lost, the broken, the hurting, the undesirables. Why? Because Jesus is Looking at them!

III. It’s Harvest TIME!!! (John 3:16) •

V.38 Jesus is now giving us an instruction. He tells us to, “Pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His Harvest Field!” • (Read Matthew 28:18-20) • Choose Jesus Today!!!
