Germany: Hundreds scuffle with police at protest against 'Kopi 137' eviction in Berlin - 09.10.2021

Hundreds took to the streets of Berlin on Saturday to protest the eviction of the alternative living project 'Kopi 137,' scuffling with police officers in the process. The protest started at the Rigaerstr, in front of the former project Liebig34, which was evicted a year ago, and finished in front of the Kopi one, where fireworks were set off and banners were held. Various Berlin left-wing organisations announced on Friday that the Kopi building in the Mitte neighbourhood was to be cleared by October 15 following a court deadline. The building is one of the last left-wing autonomous housing projects. Thirty residents have been living on the trailer site for 20 years.

Hunderte gingen am Samstag in Berlin auf die Straße, um gegen die Räumung des alternativen Wohnprojekts "Kopi 137" zu protestieren und lieferten sich dabei Rangeleien mit Polizisten. Der Protest begann in der Rigaerstraße vor dem ehemaligen Projekt Liebig34, das vor einem Jahr geräumt wurde, und endete vor dem Kopi, wo Feuerwerkskörper gezündet und Transparente gehalten wurden. Verschiedene Berliner linke Organisationen kündigten am Freitag an, dass das Kopi-Gebäude in Mitte nach einer gerichtlichen Frist bis zum 15. Oktober geräumt werden soll. Das Haus ist eines der letzten linksautonomen Wohnprojekte. Dreißig Bewohner leben seit 20 Jahren auf dem Wohnwagenplatz.

Cientos de personas salieron a las calles de Berlín el sábado para protestar contra el desalojo del proyecto de vivienda alternativa "Kopi 137", y se enfrentaron a los agentes de policía en el proceso. La protesta comenzó en la calle Rigaerstr, frente al antiguo proyecto Liebig34, que fue desalojado hace un año, y terminó frente al Kopi, donde se lanzaron fuegos artificiales y se exhibieron pancartas. Varias organizaciones de la izquierda berlinesa anunciaron el viernes que el edificio Kopi, en el barrio de Mitte, debía ser desalojado antes del 15 de octubre tras un plazo judicial.
