Hundreds of protesters rallied in Santiago de Chile on Friday as a response to allegations made against Chilean president Sebastian Pinera in the Pandora Papers leak. Police water cannons were deployed against protesters amid tense scenes. Pinera has been accused of not declaring a conflict of interest in the sale of a mining project involving his family. Prosecutors have launched an investigation against Pinera on Friday to establish the veracity of the claims made in the Pandora Papers leak. The Pandora Papers, which contain 11.9 million leaked documents, or a total of 2.9 terabytes of data and were published by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) on Sunday, alleged that 35 current and former heads of state, as well as 400 other officials from almost 100 countries, have made use of tax havens.

Piñera ha sido acusado de no declarar un conflicto de intereses en la venta de un proyecto minero que involucra a su familia. Los fiscales iniciaron el viernes una investigación contra Piñera para establecer la veracidad de las afirmaciones hechas en la filtración de los Papeles de Pandora. Los Pandora Papers, que contienen 11,9 millones de documentos filtrados, es decir, un total de 2,9 terabytes de datos, y que fueron publicados por el Consorcio Internacional de Periodistas de Investigación (ICIJ) el domingo, denuncian que 35 jefes y ex jefes de Estado, así como otros 400 funcionarios de casi 100 países, han hecho uso de paraísos fiscales.
