WATCH as La Palma volcano cone partially collapses creating new destructive lava flow - 08.10.2021

Footage from Friday night shows the partial collapse of the main cone of the Cumbre Vieja volcano on the island of La Palma. The collapse triggered a new lava flow that in a matter of minutes engulfed the northern slope of the cone. The Canary Islands Vulcanological Institute stated on twitter that the new lava flow is generating "tremendous destruction in its path" and making it difficult for its teams to navigate the area. La Palma airport remains closed due to the ash generated by the volcano, according to Aeropuertos Españoles y Navegación Aérea (AENA).
