Flat earth: We can just go to Antarctica, and photograph the edge ... right?

Why can't we just go to Antarctica and recreate Admiral Richard Byrd's route? Couldn't we just photograph the edge, or the land beyond Antarctica to finally resolve this issue? Not talking about a tour to the designated tourist or excursion spots, but an actual full continental travel.
Other than multiple bureaucratic and environmental redtape under the Antarctic treaty, just an environmental assessment alone would cost between 250,000 to 2 million dollars. And that still doesn't guarantee an approved application to travel there.
