Alternative Advice: The Confused Kid in the Pub

I provide some (unsolicited!) alternative advice to an individual who wrote in to a mainstream advice column.

Side note: We don't have many pubs in the USA, so unless this guy went to a traditional English, Irish, etc. pub, then it's a little unusual to call it such. Hence why I ask, "Who calls it a pub?" Apologies to my friends across the pond who indeed call it such!
