Perceptions Of A Renegade Mind - just got delivered 3 hrs ago and I've not put it down! 😇 Love the second quote, entitled - How the few control the many and always have - the many do whatever they're told, followed by verses 2 & 3 taken from the poem 'The Charge of the Light Brigade by Alfred, Lord Tennyson.
I've seen both movies, from 1936 & 1968. They depict the Battle Of Balaclava (yes, that's where the name came from!) during the Crimean War which lasted from October 1853 to February 1856. It is still, to this day the biggest military 'blunder' in history. The British Empire fought the Russian army on one particular occasion, famously known as the Charge Of The Light Brigade, on 25 October 1854 the British light cavalry to charge at the Russians who were positioned not only opposite, but on both sides of the valley with canons at the ready, which they'd stolen from the British, according to the movie. They were our canons! The light cavalry charged in some brainwashed insanity, beyond patriotic knowing they had no chance. That's how the movie ends - The British were, by the end of the battle were seen as heroes, though the second movie puts the blunder more under the microscope. You don't need to watch the movies when you can search the web for an article, but do read the poem.
Iron Maiden even wrote a song about it, probably one of their top 5 most famous songs - The Trooper.
