Facebook lobbies for internet regulation…

Facebook has begun an aggressive ad campaign imploring people to support increased government regulation of online platforms.

The attached trailer has been shown to Hulu customers, and directs viewers to a page (https://about.fb.com/regulations/)where the platform argues that governments should force all sites to adopt the same moderation policies that Facebook employs, such as removing “misinformation."

Additionally, Facebook also highlights “combating foreign election interference” as a priority, though the platform has been infamously strict at removing any content that questions the results of the 2020 Presidential Election.

The Facebook manifesto also argues for Section 230 updates, which could see competing platforms lose their legal immunity should they fail to moderate their content to Facebook’s standards.

If Facebook is now lobbying for their Terms of Service to become law, will there be anywhere left online for those who value free speech?
