Tailspin a tale spin is not what I do…

The difference between a fairy tale and a sea story is the fairy tale starts ′Once upon a time,′ while the sea story starts ′This is no sh*t!′

Many I have, some so unbelievable but yup, a lived tale.

I opened the starboard hatch amidships as the ship listed violently.

My foot slipped across the worn nonskid deck stopping at the kick plate as my hands grabbed the top line as to not go overboard.

My face was inches from the open sea.

The beam wind blew my hat off and was nearly blown overboard before I bent over to pick it up while holding on for life with one hand.

As the ship began to roll over to port a school of flying fish came out of the water launching themselves upwards some landing on the narrow deck ahead of me.

They began bouncing off immediately back to the pitch black sea from where they came.

Seemed like hundreds of them.

No one saw me do this, no one would have known, if I had been tossed overboard.

I was however tossed back to the hatch on the portside roll.

Soaked and pissed, I thought, not doing that again…

Safe now inside the ship skin I suppose, I could now share when that memory serves me, my flying fish tale on the high sea. #dbrn
