Written by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II for the 1959 Broadway musical, "The Sound of Music." It was introduced in the original Broadway production by Mary Martin (Maria) and sung by Julie Andrews (Maria) in the 1965 movie version. Julie Andrews had sung this song earlier on "The Garry Moore Show" in 1961 for a Christmas special.
