It was conducted under Project Salus by the US Department of Defense's Joint Artificial Intelligence Center (JAIC), and aimed to calculate waning vaccine efficacy in Medicare recipients aged 65 years and older from January 1 to August 14, 2021.

2.7M subjects received Pfizer and 2.9M received Moderna.
