20211002 Rolling the Dice - The Daily Summation

I would wager that for most folks, every day is a potential "roll of the dice."

Some of the consequences of "losing" a roll are great, some small.

I think for a lot of folks though, they're maybe not all that great at gauging the severity of the loss.

COVID-19 is a PRIME example in my mind.

If you look at the facts, you'll see that few people die of COVID-19 (and less yet as time has gone on). I KNOW the number looks large, but people don't generally look in the same way, at the numbers for things like cancer, or car crashes.

For COVID-19, most folks look at the ENTIRE PERIOD of its effect (not a month or a year, but nearly TWO years now).

I get that the numbers SEEM large, but if we're talking about someone under the age of, say 17. they're really VERY small (for mortality AND serious illness as I get it).

If you let things affect you, because of unsubstantiated statements by others, you'll be badly beaten by the winds of change and fortune.

This is what I talk about on today's edition of The Daily Summation from Kurt's Religion and Politics.

When I'm able to complete the companion article on the Kurt's Religion and Politics blog, I'll post a link to it here.
