These forest elephant calves are attempting to imitate the manner in which their mothers are drinking. In the first clip, Little Ettie tries to copy her mother but isn't quite getting the technique. Adult elephants will suck up as much as 15 liters of water in their trunks before pouring it in their mouths, but these kids are getting their trunks wet without actually sucking in water. When they get frustrated, they stick their mouths in the water to drink from it directly.
