Driver Rolls Vehicle, GOODRICH, October 2, 2021 - At approximately 2:30 am on October 2, 2021, a tan 2015 Toyota Avalon, driven by Michael Alan Tatum, Jr., 39, of Deer Park, was north-bound on US-59 when for some reason his vehicle left the pavement to the right (about a half mile north of the Trinity River Bridge) Tatum's vehicle slid into the weeds, rolled and struck a tree. Tatum's vehicle came to rest upright. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department, and Deputy Tobias Martinez with the Polk County Sheriff's Office. A passing City of Cleveland Police Officer was south-bound on 59 (reportedly on his way to work) and spotted the accident. The officer came and assisted at the scene. Tatum was entrapped, but emergency personnel managed to get his car open and get him out. Tatum was transported by ambulance to Houston with serious injuries. Traffic on 59 was not blocked during investigation and cleanup. Tatum's vehicle was recovered by Ken's Towing and will be stored at Harrison Body Shop in Livingston. This accident remains under investigation by the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
