Investment in coronavirus (COVID-19) research is urgently needed

At least $8 billion is needed to cover a funding shortfall for global COVID-19 research and development.

Research remains the world’s best exit strategy from COVID-19 and this initial funding boost – a fraction of what governments have found to protect their economies – would provide the resources needed to develop tests, treatments and vaccines, and to scale up production across the world.
