Riptide GP: Renegade (Switch) Online Races (Recorded on 12/7/17)

Riptide just released for the Switch today and I decided to buy the game based on its similarities to Hydro Thunder and Wave Race. It turns out this game was made by the same developer who made Hydro Thunder Hurricane for the Xbox 360 (Vector Unit).

For a $10 game with online multiplayer, it's not bad at all. The racing is a bit simplistic, but the game is easy to control and has some beautiful courses. The racing mechanics actually remind me of ATV Wild Ride for the 3DS, where you perform stunts off of every to jump to earn boosts. However, in this game, you can repeat the same stunts in a single lap and keep getting boosts.

After playing through the single player portion for about a half an hour, I jumped straight online and started racing anyone I could find. Unfortunately, I didn't find anyone with my initial search, but I hosted a lobby and people started showing up fairly quickly. Although the racing is simplistic, I found out the hard way that you can utilize ramming to your benefit, especially if you can smash somebody into a wall.

I set the lobby to the medium speed setting (Pro) for these races, but I think next time I'll go with the fastest setting.

Course list:

Firewater (Pro Class) - 0:15
Fountain Park (Pro Class) - 3:02
Tropico (Pro Class) - 5:43
Sky Mines (Pro Class) - 9:26
Grindhouse (Pro Class) - 12:12

Recorded with the Elgato Game Capture HD60 and the Switch's HDMI cable at native 1080p resolution and 60 frames per second. I'm using a Pro Controller.
