8-10-21 BOS Discussion on Ending Local “Health Emergency”

Butte County CAO “Andy Pickett” blatantly admits it’s all about the money. Listen to what he says before and after the public comments. It’s all about maintaining the new government jobs and handouts that were created since establishing the local health proclamation which are funded by state and federal grants. Listen to how Deborah Lucero shamelessly cites statistics touted by the incompetent and uneducated non-clinician Danette York about “new Covid cases” based on PCR testing which has now been rejected and recalled by the CDC, as her reasoning for wanting to stay in emergency, and then has the audacity to say “will businesses and schools be given back freedoms if we rescind the emergency”, as if freedoms are hers or anyone’s to give and take away! She also says "it's not like people are getting forced to get vaccines!" and then Todd Kimmelshue has to remind her about how Chico State Students aren't allowed to attend University unless they've been vaccinated!!! Bill Connelly makes the inaccurate statement that “we are not free to do what we want as we are an arm of the state”, even though several counties in California have already voted successfully to end their public health emergency status. He said this even after many members of the public had just read the explicit definition of what it means to be a charter county, which we are, giving us sovereignty and autonomy in the matters of public health. They had also read the state’s very definition of state of emergency and the criterion for meeting one, which we never have. He even went so far as to say that the state might try to punish our county if we end the local health emergency by denying us funding that would go towards things like police and fire fighting. Where is our county council, attorney Bruce Alpert on this? Isn’t it his job to defend our county and make sure we get proper funding for specific departments? Seems like that would be a matter of litigation if we were to be “punished“ in anyway because we decide to not fraudulently collect money for a non-existing emergency. . Is the accumulation of these funds really for future audits, or is it because there is a pension deficit? Will this money reuse the way the PG&E Camp Fire money has been used used, and go to pad government employees’ retirement funds?

We applaud and commend Todd Kimmelshue’s statements in thus video. At least moral compass seems to be secure..
