WND Exclusive - The Southern Border is an Open Society
by: Brent Smith
On Tuesday, January 12, 2010, a major earthquake struck the Caribbean island of Haiti. Most of us remember it. There was much suffering on the impoverished island. It was front page news for weeks as rescue and recovery continued.
Then after a while it fell off the radar. No, not the island - the story, as we moved on to something else.
Fast forward to today, as thousands of Haitians wade across a shallow section of the Rio Grande River from Mexico to the United States, seeking asylum.
But wait. Haiti is no where near Mexico. It’s in the middle of the Caribbean, sandwiched between Jamaica and Puerto Rico. How did they all get from Haiti to Mexico and on to our border?
Well, as it turns out, they aren’t coming from Haiti, but from countries like Chile and Brazil in South America where they’ve been living for over a decade, post-earthquake, as reported by Lara Logan.
