DirtyCoins South Jersey Metal Detecting Club (SJMDC) beach hunt 9/19/2021 Atsion Lake

South Jersey Metal Detecting Club (SJMDC) had a seeded beach hunt today 9/19/2021 at Atsion Lake located in the Wharton State Forest. I saw this beach last year and wanted to spend a Sunday searching it's sandy beach for DirtyCoins instead of driving another 40 miles to the shore. I found out that after Labor Day there is no $10 fee for me, (out of state), to enter the park. How about that, I get there and around 80 people with detectors already there searching the beach, shaking sand sifters with coins clanging and rattling. They all seem to have a great time at this all day event. I talked with some people there and a pleasent couple operating Whites Silver Eagle and I think a DFX, Mimi & Murph. They filled me in on how the hunt goes. From what I saw later, some of the group's management go into an area bordered with marker flags. They each have a large can of coins. Every few steps they throw a coin in the sand. Some coins have different color dots painted on them that are linked to a prize on the prize table. Nice silver coins also given out. The club members stand outside of the flagged area with detectors up. A loud sound happens and hunt starts. Some day when I stop finding the old coins in the woods and old long forgotten fair grounds, I just might join this club to take part in their future enjoyable events.
