Abortion and Embryonic Stem Cell Research Convergence

Abortion and Embryonic Stem Cell research will be converging on the point of when life starts and how to protect it in our society. The heartbeat law in Texas protects those from 6 weeks in the womb and onward while internationally the International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR) is relaxing the 14 day rule on human embryonic development on a case by case basis. If Roe vs. Wade is overturned or more states do the same as Texas, embryonic stem cell research will be a necessary talking point as both in the lab and in the womb is a human life. When and how do we address these converging topics? As a Catholic, the answer is that since science states that human life begins at conception, the teachings of the Church say that it is at that point it should be protected as it is made in the image and likeness of God. To be consistent with our stance on life with abortion we must also be against this new move and all embryonic stem cell research.
