Your heart touches me
And I can’t see beyond your smile
Your love’s all that matters to me
Let me walk beside you for a while

Your inner beauty weakens me
And I try to admit that I’m on fire
But the flames sear me turning green
And on thermals I rise higher

Into the night my understanding
Is baffled by what you call reason
On a far off cloud my soul is landing

Running from you feels like treason

And the tax collectors are standing by
Waiting to be paid their due
And I look at them and cry
All because they remind me of you

The Cheshire Cat grins like my love
Hiding her darkest secrets from me
Yet she’s naïve like a gentle dove
And loneliness is her security

But I really can’t go on
Not knowing how or why you feel
And I’ve fallen through your trap door
You keep just in case you feel too close

Lost in flight my thoughts have risen
Towards your love my mind is leaning
On a far off planet my soul is driven
Biding for your time gives me meaning
Escape my loneliness by fleeing
But there is no place to hide
The sound of the lonely wind keening
Tears me up inside
