There seems to be a feeling of time closing in on us. The true believers are well aware of what is happening around them. While this world is trying to hang on to time, we know that we are running out of it. To the unbeliever and lukewarm and "self identifying" Christians, they are doing everything they can to hang on to a putrifying world. Millions have already sold themselves out to a bio-method of survival.

There are others in the millions that refuse the bio-method knowing it is a concoction meant to destroy. This is causing a world-wide stand off. However, I want to focus on the true believers. As all of us see a tidal wave barreling towards us, we are taking new spiritual inventory. It is not business as usual with heaven. Three days ago I thought about one of the things Jesus said to Nathanael.

"Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these. And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man."

Jacob also saw a ladder set upon earth reaching to heaven. The pre-incarnate Christ standing at the top of it. Angels of God ascending and descending up on it. It is observable, that some of the Jewish writers understand the ascent, and descent of the angels, in Genesis 28:12, to be, not upon the ladder, but upon Jacob; which makes the phrase there still more agreeable to this; and so they render in Genesis 28:13, not "above it", but "above him".

What does that mean for us? The ladder is a visual of our communication with heaven is wide open. The activity of the angels shows how much activity there is upon our lives. How much God is with us, answering our prayers, his angels protecting us. Jesus stood on the top of the ladder above and upon Jacob. That same ladder stood upon Jesus while on earth, and now stands above and upon us. Those same heavens being thrown open have remained open ever since.

The "greater things" Jesus told Nathanael he would see, is now the "greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world." And "greater things will we do because He has gone to the Father in heaven." As evil and darkness become greater, so will the light, power, and glory of Christ become greater and greater. By and by, in a sense, Jesus says here, "ye shall see this communication between heaven and earth thrown wide open, and the Son of man the real Ladder of this communication." Christ is unmatched in His saints now and forever.
