Many Koreans express hate towards Japan over the thirty-five year period in the first half of the last century when they were part of Japan.

Transpose that to the relationship between the United States of America and the United Kingdom (Great Britain). During the War of 1812, the year 1814, Fort McHenry, Baltimore, Maryland, British war ships in the harbor. They pound the Americans in Forth McHenry all night attempting to cause a surrender. Morning arrives, and the Americans have not surrendered, and the British war ships ran out of animation. Thus, the ships sailed away in defeat.

On board one of the British ships was Francis Scott Key, an American lawyer. He was impressed with the defenders of the fort not surrendering, he wrote a poem about it. Later it was put to music, titled “The Star-Spangled Banner,” years later proclaimed the national anthem of the USA.

One hundred eighty years after 1814, on September 13th, 2001, at Buckingham Palace, London, United Kingdom, the band played The Star-Spangled Banner. Twenty years later on September 11, 2021 at Windsor Castle, United Kingdom, the British band once again played The Star-Spangled Banner.

They played music that celebrated their defeat in 1814. No hate, just respect between the two countries. Those Koreans who express hate towards Japan may want to grow-up, put on their big boy pants, and scuttle the hate. Their concern should not be Japan, but the Communist in North Korea and China.

NOTE: Black ribbon on the United States flag is an expression of mourning for the death of the constitutional republic in the United States of America that happened on January 20th, 2021.
