Moment Russians Launch Military Satellite Into Orbit Aboard Space Rocket
This is the moment Russia launches a rocket into space carrying a new military satellite.
The footage was shared online by the Russian Ministry of Defence, who said (in Russian): "All prelaunch operations and the launch of the Soyuz-2.1V rocket took place in the normal mode.
"The means of the ground-based automated control complex for spacecraft of the Russian orbital group monitored the launch and flight of the ILV.
"The launch of the Soyuz-2.1v light-class launch vehicle was carried out for the seventh time."
The footage was shot at the Plesetsk cosmodrome, which is located in the town of Mirny, in the Arkhangelsk Oblast region, which is located in north-western Russia.
Its payload was a military satellite, according to local state news agency RIA.
