Occasionally on Mechanic Secrets, we like to drive outside the lines of the automotive topic and share some things we learn in other areas of interest. One of those areas, as you might guess, is cameras. If you want to add a polarizer or ND filter to your Sony ZV1 or Rx100, this adapter allows you to attach any standard 52mm filter to the front of the camera, with the added benefit of protecting the factory lens from dust, debris and moisture. The full installation is demonstrated here, including an unexpected surprise at the end. Because of said surprise, we’re not sure if the Lensmate will be staying on the camera but we’re going to assess and report back in a future video. In the meantime, the factory lens will be protected by the UV filter, so we definitely achieved one of our goals with the Lensmate. Whether the Lensmate is the right solution for mounting the Ulanzi wide angle/macro lens remains to be seen. Stay tuned for an update once the Ulanzi arrives.
