20210912 A Matter of Perspective - The Daily Summation

Imagine you're looking through a window.

You see two individuals with knives in their hands, getting ready to cut open an apparently sleeping baby.

Sounds horrible, right?

What if I told you they were in an operating room, and the child needed emergency surgery?

Wow! That changes things TOTALLY, right?

Its an old (but if not known) effective word picture that demonstrates the importance of PERSPECTIVE.

Watching a recent video in which one of the talkers to whom I pay attention made the "bad assumption" (to be fair, he was stating the perspective of another) that it was "unreasonable" for God to have loved Jacob while hating Esau, I was again reminded of the importance of perspective.

If it's true there's a God, and that He is omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, and eternal, it stands to reason that He can know things BEFORE they happen.

If He also (and this to me, is a mystery) can allow us to have free will (and based on what I believe, this MUST be true), then he can foreknow the "badness" of a given individual.

When you put things in that way, it's not just REASONABLE for Him to love one and hate another, but you might EXPECT it to be so.

Today's edition of The Daily Summation from Kurt's Religion and Politics goes into this (at least to ME) interesting conundrum. Hope you enjoy.
