20210911 Ideas, not Attributes - The Daily Summation

We don't always have the luxury to get to know someone.

When a person comes up on you in what appears to be an "attack posture," for example, you may have to take action as a result.

That considered, more often than not, if you conclude things about folks without getting to know them, chances are good you'll come to errant conclusions.

Most people I know AT LEAST WOULD LIKE TO have this be their primary mode of operation.

Because we all have pasts, that can be harder than not to effect.

That said, I STRONGLY urge you to NOT count on things like skin color, to decide who people are.

Had I done so in MANY situations, I would've failed to count folks friends and associates I now do.

You can be ASSURED I would have been worse off as a result.

The old idea, "You can't judge a book by its cover," certainly applies to MANY people.

That's even more the case when it's some property a person's unable to change with any ease (like skin color, facial features or height).

Want MY advice? GET TO KNOW FOLKS (where possible) before coming to (particularly deep) conclusions about them.

This is what brought me to a place where I felt I needed to talk about the idea in the latest edition of The Daily Summation from Kurt's Religion and Politics.

When I'm able to complete the companion article on the Kurt's Religion and Politics blog, I'll post a link to it here.
