The Ultimate Test

Most Christians believe that God loves them but they have difficulty when it comes to trusting Him to take care of them. Abraham was no exception. He was your typical religious person who was more concerned about his own self than what God was doing.

Abraham had no real understanding that God wanted to build a family which would eventually become a nation to receive the future Messiah. Jesus personally visited Abraham, shared a meal with him, and explained the promised heir was finally coming.

Jesus wanted Abraham involved in His work on earth and told him that He was going to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah. Abraham was concerned about innocent people being killed and acted like an attorney to negotiate a deal for them.

Later, he lied to King Abimelech and God’s prophet was scolded for his moral failure by an idolatrous king. Jesus was very patient with Abraham. After four decades, this Chaldean from the lineage of Shem finally reached the place where he trusted God completely.
