Know Why Cats Sleep Often.

One of the reasons cats often sleep is to conserve energy before hunting. Cats have a predatory physiology, which means they are used to chasing and hunting mainly at night. Adult cats such as lions have similar sleep patterns during the day and hunt at night.

Even though they have been mostly domesticated, the domestic cat still retains that wild line or trait. In fact, a cat at play will show the cat's primary instincts. For example crawling in the shadows, and without a warning prompt will pounce on their prey or target.

Well, because hunting or playing requires a lot of energy, that's why cats need to replenish their energy by sleeping for long periods of time.
