Macaws generally inhabit forests located in tropical regions. In national territory these birds can be found in the Pantanal, in the Amazon Forest and in the Atlantic Forest region. They usually live in flocks and are monogamous birds, forming couples for life. They nest in hollows that already exist in tree trunks, ravines, among others. The female lays 2-3 eggs per year, which will be incubated for a period of around 35 days. They are long-lived animals, reaching 60 years of age.
