Easy Pork & Shrimp Siomai /Japanese Siomai Recipe

Ingredients:
5lbs pork ground
2 lbs shrimp, chopped
250g shitake mushroom, chopped
1 1/4 cup carrots, chopped
3/4 cup water chestnuts or turnips, chopped
5 green onions finely minced
3/4 cup oyster sauce
2 1/2 tsp salt
5 tsps white pepper
5 tsps white sugar
5 tbsp rice wine (shaoxing)
5 tbsp sesame oil
5 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup cornstarch
Siomai wrapper
Oil for brushing dumplings

For Japanese siomai:
Crab sticks
Nori wrap

Dipping Saucecalamansi or lemon juice to tastesoy sauce to tastechili garlic to taste

Directions:
In a large bowl, combine all the filling ingredients and mix until incorporated.

For each siomai, spoon 1 tablespoon of the filling into the center of a wrapper. Using a butter knife, press the filling and the wrapper in toward the center. Repeat with remaining siomai mixture.

Brush steamer with oil and boil water. When the water gets to a rolling boil,
arrange the siomai in the steamer and steam for 40-50 minutes.

For Japanese Siomai:

Lay a Nori wrap on a flat surface. Spread the meat filling evenly, filling a
quarter of the wrap. Arrange crab sticks in the middle of the meat
lengthwise. Wrap like you would a sushi.

Using a steamer, Steam the japanese siomai for about 40-50 minutes.
Cut into 8 pieces each roll.

Serve with dipping sauce.
