This pre-release sample of the FQ Proper comes in at 5 5/8x46 featuring a dark chocolate mottled wrapper with rock hard pack, minimal veins, tight invisible seams, large triple cap, oily satin feel with slight tooth and pungent earth and coffee aroma. First light reveals huge plumes of medium-full bodied smoke with a perfect draw, flavors of an oily slightly peppery thick earth, metallic zing, leather and a long full finish of the same. The first third continues with the same great construction adding a touch of coffee on the draw rounding out a quite complex blend of flavors. Hitting the 1/2 way point at short 25 minutes the 2nd third burns very well dropping the ash in a solid third chunk. Flavors are still quite complex with the pepper and zing coming down, replaced by a slight cream note and the coffee coming up a touch on the draw. The retrohale is especially smooth. Ending at 50 minutes where it got too warm for my taste, the last third continues the same flavor profile but the strength ramps up matching at medium-full, right at my limit.
