Splitting A .177 Pellet With A Razor Blade - Air Rifle Pest Control

Practice, practice, practice!

When the ranges are closed because of COVID-19, you're bored of target shooting... what other way is there to test your accuracy and aim?

I saw another shooter demonstrate how accurate his kit was by shooting the blade of this hunting knife, with his .22 rifle and splitting the pellet in two at 11 yards.

I thought... I can do that. Only, I wanted to split a .177 pellet, on a razor blade at 13 yards.

I set everything up, locked myself and the kids away and... FIRST SHOT. I kid you not! FIRST SHOT! The .177 pellet left the rifle at 710 ft/s, hit the razor blade dead centre and was cut cleanly in two, hitting the paper and backstop board behind it.

See this in action and see the setup I used.

Rifle and Pellet Setup:

- #AirArms S510 Ultimate Sporter .177 12ft/lbs
- #ATN X Sight 4k Pro 3-14 x 50
- ATN #ABL 1000 Rangefinder
- #JSB Exact Heavy 10.34gr
