A hurricane from Turkey strikes Russia across the Black Sea! Krasnodar Krai is flooded.

The low-pressure area that formed in the north-central Black Sea on August 11 has been classified as Medistorm Falchion on August 12, 2021. The Falchion moved slowly to the NE on August 12 and is expected to strengthen and land near Gelendzhik and Anapa, Krasnodar Krai, Russia in the evening August 13.

The storm has caused a lot of trouble in northern Turkey. At 18:00 UTC on August 12, the center of Falchion is near Russia (44.0°N, 37.8°E) and moving towards the NE at 10 km/h (6 mph). Maximum sustained winds are 46 km/h (30 mph). Falchion continues towards Russia's Black Sea coast, very, very slowly.

The convection that was near the center has now disappeared, and the remaining convection takes the form of broad bands that break away from the center - a very characteristic subtropical pattern.

In Slavyansk-on-Kuban, 40 household plots were flooded due to heavy rains, water entered 11 private houses. Two roads, 34 household plots and six private houses were submerged in water. The basements of nine apartment buildings were flooded. Pumping of water from the flood site continues in Anapa. After rain in the resort town, 15 household plots and basements of three apartment buildings were damaged.
