Lyse Doucet, the BBC's Chief International Correspondent, reports live from Kabul as the final US soldier left Afghanistan.
Celebratory gun shots rang out across the capital as US forces ended their occupation of the country - with no US military presence on Afghan soil for the first time since 2001.
Leaders of the "Islamic emirate of Afghanistan" gathered at Kabul airport to declare "this victory belongs to us all".
