Don McLean wrote about the “day the music died.” In Afghanistan, the Taliban have killed their own Don McLean, a folk singer named Fawad Andarabi, as they ban all forms of music and artistry. I use this terrible murder to draw some broader conclusions about the arts in developed, free societies.
