I saw a young man take what would be his last breaths in this life. Numerous officers and I responded to a high crime area when we got the call about shots fired. It affected me because I felt horrible for him dying like he did and being so young he had his whole life ahead of him.

But, as police officers can we let our emotions get in the way of the job? NO! We must stay focused on the mission at hand. But then, how do we deal with the mental aftermath and a career that has us exposed to trauma more than the general public will ever experience???

I'll give three tips about career survival that can help with mental and physical aspects of wellness.
