Hurricane Ida made landfall into Louisiana and has knocked out power city-wide. A storm surge of 10 feet occurred and those stranded in their homes have not had search and rescue able to reach them yet. This devastation struck on the 16th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, a tender date for New Orleans. As of Monday morning the storm has been downgraded to a Tropical Storm with winds gusting up to 80mph as it tracks through Mississippi now. Meteorologist Brittney Merlot breaks down the science behind storm surge and what a category 4 hurricane does to cities.
