WATCH: Long Beach Police Shoot Armed Robbery Suspect Fleeing From Signal Hill Police

LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA - Long Beach Police Department released footage of an incident where Long Beach Police officers shoot an armed robbery suspect fleeing from signal hill police.

This shooting occurred on August 08, 2021, after a man was suspected of using a Glock to rob a Signal Hill grocery store and then fleeing the scene. Signal Hill officers pursued the car, but lost sight of it and then broadcasted the information to other officers in the area. Shortly after, Long Beach police officers came across a two-vehicle crash that involved a Honda matching the robbery suspect's vehicle description.

A witness told the Long Beach police officers that the driver of the Honda fled on foot and then pointed him out as he was standing on a corner near a taco stand, attempting to stay out of sight from officers. When the officers approach him, they tell him to walk over to the police vehicle. As he walked over, one of the officers tells the other(s) that he saw a gun in the man front right pocket. The officers then tells the man to put his hands on the hood of the police vehicle. He puts his hands on the hood, but moves them a few times, as they continue to tell him to put his hands on the hood. One of the officers eventually tells him to get on his knees, and when he steps back from the vehicle, he moves his hands towards his waist. At point, two officers opened fire, striking the man. Officers eventually handcuffed him and found a firearm on him, which was loaded.

It was later discovered the man was suspected of several other crimes in the hour leading up to the officer involved shooting.
